As we close out 2025, I’m taking a moment to reflect—not just on this past year, but on the incredible five-year journey that has been Her Data. What began as a simple vision to empower and connect women in data has blossomed into a thriving, vibrant community—a collective force fueled by curiosity, creativity, and courage.
If you want to grow your career, yes, it’s important to sharpen your skills—but just as crucial is growing your community. The people you surround yourself with, especially in the Tableau community, are not only best-in-class professionals but genuinely amazing human beings. They will be the ones who continuously invest in you, challenge you, and help you evolve.
When I think about this journey, a quote from Jim Rohn comes to mind: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” While it’s a simplification, this idea has profoundly shaped how I view community and growth. The people I’ve met, collaborated with, and learned from—regardless of gender—have truly influenced my mindset, habits, and success. I’m beyond grateful for how they have uplifted me, challenged me, and inspired me to lead with purpose.
The Power of Community Over Time
I started using Tableau seven years ago, and just two years later, I co-founded Her Data—initially as a platform to connect and empower women in data. The goal was simple but powerful: to amplify diverse voices and create a space where women could find support, inspiration, and community. What I didn’t fully anticipate was how deeply this journey would root me in connection—not only to others but to a shared purpose that has shaped my personal and professional growth.
This community has been a wellspring of inspiration. From pioneers who innovate new ways to tell stories with data, to mentors who generously share their knowledge and wisdom, to changemakers who create opportunities and pave the way for others—the collective strength and impact are undeniable.
Honoring the Women Who Have Shaped This Journey
I want to recognize just a few incredible women whose passion has fueled this mission: mentors like Dinushki De Livera, Kimly Scott and Lisa Trescott, innovators such as Kasia Gasiewska-Holc, Joti Gautam, and Judit Bekker, and community builders including Anya Prosvetova, Chantilly Jaggernauth, Jenny Martin, Priyanka Dobhal, Wendy Shijia, and Emily De Padua.
This list is only a glimpse of the amazing individuals who embody the spirit of Her Data, enriching our community and inspiring us all to grow.
Gratitude to Tableau and Beyond
Many connections began within the Tableau community, whose commitment to innovation and inclusion has been a catalyst for growth. The friendships and collaborations here have been invaluable.
Looking ahead, my hope is that everyone in data finds a community that challenges and supports them. Growth is built through relationships—mentors, peers, and friends who shape us both professionally and personally.
Whether you’re just starting or well on your path, invest in building your network. Seek out those who inspire and challenge you, and be that person for others. Together, we create a space where every voice matters, every story is valued, and everyone can thrive.
Thank you for being part of this journey with Her Data and the broader community. I’m honored to walk this path with you.
